Built by a Rivian R1T owner who couldn't find a topper under $5,000

When Jeff bought his Rivian R1T in 2022, he ran into the same problem every R1T owner eventually finds: the 4.5-foot bed is too short for the gear that matters. Bikes, kayaks, rooftop tents, dogs, kids, camping gear — all of it spills out past the tailgate.

So he went shopping for a hard topper. And stopped.

Every option on the market was a $5,000–$16,000 premium camper. Nothing existed for R1T owners who just wanted a covered, lockable, weatherproof bed — without taking out a second mortgage.

So he built one.

Jeff commissioned a precision 3D scan of his own R1T, partnered with an engineering team, and spent a year iterating on materials, mounting geometry, weatherproofing, and fit. The first production batch — validated by R1T owners on the Rivian Owners Forum — shipped in March 2025.

What makes us different

Price. $2,100 all-in. The next-closest hard topper for the R1T costs $4,999. Every other option on the market is $8,000 or more.

Fit. We didn't adapt a generic topper to the R1T — we 3D-scanned an R1T and designed around it. Gear tunnel access, bed camera cutout, tailgate clearance, and the R1T's factory tie-downs are all accounted for.

Small-batch. Every production run is MOQ-gated and inspected. You know exactly which batch you're in and exactly when it's leaving the factory.

Owner-to-owner. AutoFitPro was started by an R1T owner for R1T owners. The feedback loop from our customers on the Rivian Owners Forum directly drove design changes — including the bed-camera port, cab window option, and side storage boxes.

What's next

The Rivian R1T is our first platform. Tesla Cybertruck and Hummer EV pickup toppers are in early development. Check back for updates when the next batches open.
